The bulk of our morning in Crestview was spent in McDonald’s where we ate both breakfast and lunch while sucking up their free WiFi. Around 11 am, we motivated ourselves enough to hit the road.
We’d walk along Route 90 through downtown Crestview making a stop at the Publix to resupply. The further we walked, the more I regretted cutting our hike short the day prior. It was a hiker food paradise! There was every fast food chain imaginable as well as an assortment of international cuisine in food trucks from Filipino to Thai to Mexican! Bummer.
After passing by several car dealerships, the trail returned to the woods.
We’d have a scenic hike to JR Walton Pond campsite.
We were reminded that we were on Eglin property as we listened to fighter jets whistling above our heads as we set up camp.
