The Pinhoti Trail: Part 1

Thursday, May 9th, 2019

Although incredibly brief, we had a great time catching up with Frisbee’s cousin, Nina in Birmingham, Alabama.

On the last day, we went out to eat at “Back Forty Beer Company”, then grabbed a Quad Latte (a Latte with four shots of espresso), at “Satellite Coffee Bar” before picking up our buddy Spacejam from the Greyhound.

We hiked with him on the Appalachian Trail in 2017, and like us, he was looking for something to do between adventures. He’s planning on joining his mom on a bike tour in New England afterwards.

She drove us out of town to the southern terminus of the Pinhoti Trail at Flag Mountain, Alabama.

It was dark when we arrived, but we decided to hike a mile in to get to the backcountry cabins. We were blown away by the accommodations once we got there! They were actual cabins with beds, cots, electricity, and one of the rooms had a refrigerator.

I took pictures in the morning

We stayed up late talking with each other. I think we drank too much coffee.
